meteors

I can't remember much about this one. Pretty much just the meteors.

So I was at some party at a house I've never actually seen, and it was nighttime. We all went out on the front deck to watch a meteor shower, but it was really cloudy. I asked which meteor shower it was and this guy kind of scoffed at my ignorance and told me "leonids dude". So then I pointed out that the sky was covered by clouds and we wouldn't be able to see anything, and this meteor expert guy scoffed again, like "pfff", but didn't say anything else, and everyone just kept looking upward. Then there was a kind of flash behind what looked like a thin layer of cloud, and the clouds kind of opened up. Then there was a flurry of probably hundreds of meteors right in that little cloud opening, and as more fired off the hold would widen in the sky until it was pretty big. I couldn't see very well so I climbed onto this bench thing and was holding on to the edge of the roof by putting my hand in this little hole. I almost fell a couple times and my hand would have been stuck in the hold and probably broke, but I just left it there anyway, I guess I was willing to take the risk. Gretchen was the only person there that I knew, and she had on the shiny jacket that I commented on the other night, and she was crying because she was so scared that the meteors were "in our atmosphere" and I was thinking 'that's basically just the definition of a meteor and isn't scary at all.' So here's the picture that I know gave my imagination the idea for the clouds opening up. It's called a 'punch hole' cloud and it's caused by a pocket of cold air falling through an otherwise regular high-altitude layer of clouds.
